Having a Friday night cocktail to mark the end of the week has long been something I’ve enjoyed, there’s nothing quite like it. A Cosmo is a classic cocktail, and as it contains both lime juice & cranberry juice it surely counts as one of my five-a-day right? RIGHT?

Ingredients (easily enough for 2 with top ups, see step 1)
180ml vodka
120ml cranberry juice
60ml freshly squeezed lime juice
60ml Cointreau
A splash of gomme / sugar syrup if it takes your fancy
Method
- To make life easier I tend to measure the ingredients into a jug, give it a good stir, then add only enough for two drinks maximum to a cocktail shaker with plenty of ice – this way there’s room in the shaker for the liquid to bounce around, plus you won’t end up with leftover cosmo getting diluted by melting ice (and you can always keep the rest in the fridge).
- Pop the lid on, wrap a tea-towel around the shaker so your hands don’t stick to it.
- Shake for a good 30 seconds, you want this to be ice cold.
- Strain into cocktail glasses.
- Aaaaaaand relax.
To make gomme/sugar syrup, heat 1 cup of water with 2 cups of sugar until completely dissolved, then leave to cool and store in a jar in the fridge. Or buy some.
